  • Family therapy. This psychological counseling helps family members improve communication skills and resolve conflicts. It is aimed at bringing transparency to the relationships and encouraging closeness if the members prefer to. 
  • Dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT). This cognitive-behavioral treatment consists of individual therapy sessions with a counselor and DBT skills groups. It involves motivating the client to apply their DBT skills to their daily life ad discuss any issues that might arise during treatment. 
  • Motivational interviewing. This counseling method helps the patient resolve conflicting feelings and insecurities to feel motivated to change their behavior. It’s ideal for substance abuse disorder and management for physical health conditions like diabetes, heart disease, and asthma. It helps the patient choose the behavior that prevents them from making healthy choices.
